Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2020, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is a full and generous interpretation of the vintage with an inky dark appearance and articulate aromas of spice, leather, Graham cracker and dried fruit. There’s also a good amount of menthol or dried rosemary sprig. This wine offers its best assets upfront and leaves less to chew on at the backend. Drink: 2014-2020.

Deep crimson. Deeper than the Nardi Silvio Vigneto Manachiara. Clean nose and convincingly deep, but not especially powerful. Savoury and meaty. Notable acidity and then tannins, and not that much to hold them together. Furry end. Light finish. Slightly dead on the finish. (JR)
