Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino. Variable season with extreme heat in June/July and humidity in August. However, the results are impressive with 2006 matching 2007 for quality, albeit in a totally different style. The 2006 was Suckling’s wine of the year. Weighty, glossy and with great depths of spicy, berry fruit, this is a very fine Colore which still has plenty left in the tank. There is an intriguing balance between concentration on the palate, fresh acidity, and bramble/briary notes on both the palate and nose, which keep everything lively. Drinking beautifully but there is still more to come. (AH)

Based just outside Florence, Bibi Graetz is something of a maverick in the Tuscan wine scene. Working with old vineyards of indigenous grapes around Chianti, he produces intense wines classified as IGT Toscana; not fitting neatly in either the Super Tuscan or Chianti camp.
