The magnum of 1975 Coutet was poured at my own infamous birthday party at The Ledbury. It has a vibrant, citrus-driven nose with hints of mango and quince developing with time in glass. The palate is bestowed with a touch of spice and dried pineapple on the entry, fanning out beautifully with a crisp, dried apricot and marmalade-tinged finish. Coutet is defined by its vivacity and acidity, and this is a perfect example of it. It is very fine and superior to the 1976.

Served at the 'KFC at The Ledbury' soiree and from magnum, the Coutet ’75 has a sprightly citrus-driven nose with hints of mango and quince developing with time in glass. The palate is bestowed with a touch of spice and dried pineapple on the entry, fanning out beautifully with a crisp, dried apricot and marmalade tinged finish. Coutet is defined by its vivacity and acidity and this is a perfect example of it. Very fine. (NM)

Every bit as good as the more open-knit and expressive 1976, the 1975 is lighter and more typically Coutet in its proportions, with a graceful, fresh taste, very good concentration, and years of evolution ahead. Anticipated maturity: Now-2002. Last tasted, 3/86.
