The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a pronounced rose water-tinged bouquet, flattering if just missing a bit of complexity considering the Premier Cru in question. The palate is well-balanced with a pleasant, saline entry, lightly spiced with hints of lemongrass. It's pretty tensile but maybe just missing the weight and concentration of Perrières finest exponents on the finish. Nevertheless, it will still give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru has a tight, focused nose of gunflint and gravel, expressing this noble vineyard extremely well in the sense that it could not be from anywhere else. The palate is well balanced with touches of orange peel, ginger and light savory notes on the entry. Quite a phenolically driven Perrières, it has wonderful length, even if it does not quite have the clinical precision of, say, Dominique Lafon’s own Perrières. Still, this is a well-crafted, quite sublime Meursault.
