Transparent crimson. Very light nose. Quite marked acidity and not really quite enough fruit to satisfy drinkers other than the most traditional. Archetypal lunchtime claret? With a little bite of tannin on the end still. (JR)

The 2016 Peyrabon has a finely detailed bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, pressed flower and mineral aromas. This exudes class. The palate is well balanced with fine grain tannin, one of the more saline Cru Bourgeois with touches of oyster shell and spice towards the poised, edgy finish. Very fine. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot. Cherry, coffee and something a little earthy on the palate. Linear and thin on the finish. Seems to be a little bretty. (RH)

Mid crimson. Florally scented and racy. Polished tannins. A little austere on the end but honestly intended. (JR)
