Exceptionally dark. Lots of blue in this still. Can something be both raw and cooked? This nose seems to manage it... Bitter finish. Fast fade. There is a hole in the middle. (JR)

A touch of damp earth, sweet plum, and black cherry fruit are present in this spicy, earthy, medium-bodied wine. It is up-front and best drunk over the next decade. It is not all fun and fruit, as some austere tannins are in the finish, but they are not overwhelming, nor are they out of balance.

The Cabernet component at 75% was higher than usual and the Sichels say it's grippier than usual Margaux. Slightly dull nose.  I'm not sure that in 2006 this is such an attractive proposition. Fine for early drinking but not desperately exciting. (JR)
