Another stunner made from a high-elevation vineyard is the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Cimarossa Vineyard. This Howell Mountain 100% Cabernet Sauvignon displays lots of minerals along with mulberry, graphite, red and black currant and spring flower characteristics in a ripe, full-bodied, rich, textured, moderately tannic style. The Cimarossa needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last another 20-25 years. Tel. (707) 963-3100

Good full medium ruby. Aromas of blackcurrant, bitter chocolate and menthol. Dense, sweet and lush, with terrific ripe acidity giving vinosity and clarity to the dark cherry and cassis fruit. Finishes sweet, firm and very long. In contrast to the Mast, this really demands a few years of cellaring and should age very well for a good 15 years.

Good medium ruby. Aromas of kirsch, blackberry, cassis, minerals, tar and bitter chocolate. Juicy and tightly wound, with medicinal flavors of cassis, blackberry and shoe polish complicated by a charry note from the Taransaud barrels. Quite tannic and backward in the fashion of Howell Mountain cabernet. The wine's purity, intensity and structure suggest that it will be a very successful and cellarworthy wine.
