A sexy Pomerol that’s ready to go is the 2008 Château Rouget. It’s fully mature yet has beautiful density and fruit as well as medium to full-bodied richness, classic notes of blackcurrants, game, saddle leather, and leafy herbs, resolved tannins, and a clean, enjoyable finish. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.

Very deep colour. Super-ripe meaty nose. Glossy impact with lots of ripe fruit but a bit painful on the very end. Drying tannins and a bit exaggerated. (JR)

Medium red-ruby. Blueberry, fresh herbs and dark chocolate on the nose and palate, with both jammy and weedy suggestions. Creamy and seamless in the mouth, offering very good breadth along with a lightly green quality on the back end. For drinking over the next eight to ten years.
