An unobtrusive note of wood highlights the perfumed, airy and relatively elegant red berry fruit, spice and Gevrey style earth-infused nose. There is a more evident minerality to the big-bodied, sleek and muscular flavors that possess a lovely sense of underlying tension on the pungently saline finish. This is sufficiently accessible that it should be approachable young but allow for longer-term aging too if desired. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2026+

About the producer

Domaine Tortochot - producer
Domaine Tortochot

Situated in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Tortochot may not carry the cachet of the very top domaines in the village, but it does offer some of the best value, producing wines with great terroir transparency in their top Premiers and Grands Crus, and fabulous village wines.
