The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills was blended with 7% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc and matured for 20 months in 80% new French oak. It has intense, pure aromas of cassis, violet, cast iron, garrigue and seamlessly integrated oak spice. The full-bodied palate is bursting with perfumed fruit. It has a luxurious, powdery texture, bright acidity and a long, nuanced finish. It should be long lived in the cellar. 458 cases were made.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 1311 tempts the imagination with a whiff of sweet smoke and lavender, complementing citrus-laced blackberries. Silken textures and a juicy mouthfeel soothe the senses as ripe red and blue fruits wash across the palate with ease. Crunchy mineral tones mingle with fine tannins, leaving a dark chocolate and licorice tinge. It finishes long and impactful. This radiant beast is sure to enjoy a long and fruitful life.

Cohesive even as a barrel sample, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 1311 has a tremendous brightness of red fruit at its core, as well as impressive finesse. The oak is integrating well already, with the promise of more to come. Elegant and powerful, this is delicious and should go another 15-years, if not more. The grapes were grown at Wallulu The Benches Vineyard.
