Good red-ruby. Very spicy, wild aromas of cherry, redcurrant and leather. Offers good sweetness and fat, and a silky texture for the vintage. Finishes with a cool menthol note but also nicely sweet tannins that promise early accessibility.

Monopole. Cask Sample 1. Real life and zest on the nose (compared to a village wine). Still pretty chunky and earthbound on the palate, but should eventually be rewarding. 2. Bright crimson. Angular, chunky nose. Very hard work! Tannins and the acid make their presence felt long before the fruit. Very austere. (JR)
