(15.2% alcohol): Deep, bright ruby. Alluring aromas of dark berries, coffee, truffle and smoky oak. Plush, pliant and sweet, with a liqueur-like quality to its black fruit flavors that's nicely counterpointed by harmonious ripe acidity. At once generous and juicy on the mid-palate. Not hugely complex today, and a touch warm on the finish, but this concentrated, ripely tannic wine will evolve further in the bottle.

Voluptuous, ripe California style, with great concentration and structure. Fine integration of rich red/black fruit, cedary oak, polished tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish goes on and on. Ripe, smooth and balanced. (LM) $136

Even richer and fuller than the regular bottling, but at the same time hedonistically and voluptuously styled is the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection. Dense ruby/purple with low acidity and huge amounts of fruit, this is a seamless, full-bodied, classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 15-18 years. Tel. Good deep ruby-red. Musky black fruits and earth on the nose, with oak notes that seem far more harmonious and subtle than some of the vintages of the '90s. Suave, moderately sweet and silky, with ripe acidity framing the dark berry flavors. This builds nicely toward the back, finishing with tooth-dusting tannins and lingering notes of redder fruits, gravel and loam. A superb showing.
