The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a wonderful nose with tempting scents of yellow fruit, white flowers and walking into a French pâtisserie. The palate displays exquisite balance, almost effervescent in style, bright acids and it gains intensity in the glass, revealing the depth and "gras"-like attributes one expects from this famous vineyard. This has a long life ahead. Tasted at the "Four" dinner at Bouchard Père in Beaune.

Light floral nose. Rather put in the shade by the Chanson Corton-Les Vergennes. Edgy and arguably more youthful than the Corton-Les Vergennes 2014. Smoky and deep-flavoured. Still a little chewy. (JR)

This is a very structured Corton-Charlemagne with phenolic strength and vivid fruit character of lightly cooked apples and hints of straw. So polished yet layered. Like a red wine in mouthfeel. Try in 2022.
