The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a ripe and showy bouquet with plush black cherries and cassis fruit, though it does not fully possess the delineation of its peers. Yet I still find the aromatics attractive and not overbearing. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins that give it a fleshy mouthfeel, slightly lower in acidity and a little more savory compared to its peers, brown spices and cooked meats towards the finish. It's not bad, though it does lack a bit of typicité. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Powerful, intense premier cru Nuits. Has the tannic structure expected, together with dark-fruit character and good oak integration. Pretty complete and will develop very well over the next 5–10 years. (AWH)
