Complex red and black fruits, spice, leather, and tobacco notes all emerge from the 2014 Château Mauvesin Barton, an incredibly complex, charming, medium-bodied Moulis that has fine tannins and a good finish. It's drinking brilliantly today yet should have another decade or more of prime drinking, with a gradual decline thereafter. Drink 2025-2037.

Firmly and squarely in its drinking window at this 10 year point, but not quitting yet, this showcases soft tannins, tobacco and undergrowth along with raspberry fruits and rose petal floral notes. Higher acidity than some in the lineup, but still going strong, and great value. Melanie Barton-Sartorius winemaker.

Tasted blind. Greyish mid crimson. Rather simple sweetish Cabernet Sauvignon with a very dry end. The world will not be set alight but it ticks the boxes. (JR)
