Score 87/100 · Drink 2021-2023, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2021

The 2005 Larmande is a rich, deep Saint-Émilion loaded with dark fruit, leather, espresso, sweet oak, spice, menthol and licorice. Plush and opulent in the glass, with sweet tannins and plenty of concentration, the 2005 is a good choice for drinking now and over the next few years. I would not push my luck on aging.

Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Dark chocolate aromas on the rather vivid nose. Sweet fruit and very mellow palate. Much more forward than most, with a little tannic residue on the end. Quite a charmer, but with ambition too. (JR)

A somewhat austere style of 2005, the 2005 Larmande is medium-bodied, with dark plum and black cherry fruit as well as some earth, spice and background oak. It should drink well for another 7-10 years.
