Aromas of pear and orange oil mingled with hints of honeycomb and freshly baked bread introduce the 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless wine that's deep and layered, with a cool, impeccably balanced profile and a long, saline finish.

Fruit only from vines in Les Charmes-Dessus; fruit from the Dessous part, planted in 2017, has gone into the Meursault village wine. Cask sample. Mid lemon. Lemon, apple and peach. Scented but compact. Rich, opulently textured fruit. Fine, high-toned acidity. Long, elegant and very complete. Bon vin ! (MH)

The 2023 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru, which only comes from Charmes-Dessus this year, has fine intensity on the nose, if perhaps not quite the mineralité of the Genevrières. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honey-textured opening, countered by a silver thread of acidity. This is one of the most concentrated cuvées here, perhaps just bearing the mark of the warm summer more than others, yet it's still pure and alluring.
