The village 2017 Vosne-Romanée comes from four to five different sites and is brought up in 50% new wood. This soft, seductive beauty has loads of spiced red and black raspberries, dried flowers, and honeysuckle-like nuances to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, layered style on the palate. Just about impossible to resist, it's going to evolve for 15 years or more.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village is the last vintage to include the parcel in La Colombière. It offers red cherry and crisp strawberry fruit on the tightly packed bouquet, undergrowth scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, smooth and velvety in the mouth, yet I find that the 2018 maybe shows a little more complexity on the finish.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village confirms the promise it showed in barrel, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, red berries, peonies and sweet soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and satiny, with succulent acids, melting tannins and a long and perfumed finish. While it's deceptively approachable, long-time followers of this cuvée will know that it will amply reward bottle age with enhanced depth and complexity.
