The 2021 Corton Blanc Grand Cru is a blend of two parcels in Bressandes and one parcel in Corton-Charlemagne that produced just 84 liters and another in Corton Chaumes below Pougets. The nose has quite a hefty reduction at the moment, a touch of dried pineapple and peach. Quite yeasty. There was no SO2 added at all during the winemaking, so it does have the "natural wine" edge. The palate is well-balanced, with lime, citrus peel, tangerine and peach with a lightly spiced finish. Fine, though not as long-term as I initially thought.

A blend of Corton-Bressandes and Corton Chaumes, the 2021 Corton Blanc Grand Cru has an endearing bouquet with white peach, dried pineapple (which usually disappears after racing) and touches of Mirabelle. The palate is balanced with fine acidity, citrus lemon mixed with Clementine and peach and light white pepper notes on the finish. Lovely.

This magnificent wine initially has a bright lemon peel note, but as it opens up, there is something riper and richer, with quince, apricot, and hazelnut aromas. The texture is waxy and dense with lots of extract, yet the richness is balanced by the crisp acidity of the year. In 2021, the grapes came from Bressandes in Aloxe, giving a rich result; normally, grapes from Chaumes are blended in as well. The yield here was good – 20 hl/ha, giving seven barrels, one of which was new.
