The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a heavy-handed reduction on the nose that feels fixed and obscures the terroir and fruit intensity. The palate is rather bitter on entry, a hard-going wine that feels too toasty and reduced on the finish. This is not the best in its class. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Open and charming, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles offers up aromas of white flowers, pear and peach mingled with buttered toast and nuts. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, it will drink well on release.

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru is another cuvée that was reduced on my visit. The palate is medium-bodied with bitter lemon on the entry, quite taut and just maybe missing the harmony and length of Bachelet's other cuvées on the finish.
