The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 1er Cru has a very appealing bouquet with brambly red fruit, a touch of sous-bois , orange rind and light iodine scents. It is very well-defined and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. It is not the most profoundly complex Gevrey you will meet, and there is just a touch of acetone towards the finish (balsamic-like), but it is well-balanced and sapid with a very long aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Smooth, understated. Lovely fresh acidity here. Classic Pinot. Rossignol-Trapet have managed to retain much of the classicism of Pinot in other years, while still showing the ripeness and density of 2020. (AWH)

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 1er Cru has a very perfumed and floral bouquet, plenty of energy here, focused with lovely red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, quite structured and chalky-textured with a touch of white pepper on the finish. Very fine.
