The Scottish Highlands

Geographically speaking, the Highlands is the largest whisky-producing region in Scotland. Somewhat confusingly, the Highlands includes Speyside and producers from the Speyside region can label their whisky as a Highland single malt. The Macallan is probably the most famous example of this.

About Highlands

Today, Highland whisky styles vary greatly and can be heavily peated, light and heathery or smoky. Some of the most coveted Highland single malt producers are The Dalmore, Glenmorangie and Balblair.
