Mid-crimson. Silky, spiny texture with noticeable acidity. At the moment this is quite green and chewy and chunky. Definitely one to keep. (JR)
Cos Labory’s weak, medium ruby color has more in common with a washed out Burgundy than Bordeaux. Hints of compost, herbs, damp earth, and soil scents are followed by a stretched, lean, austere claret to drink during its first 7-8 years of life.
Quite deep crimson with some toastiness on the nose. Then a bit disappointingly vapid on the palate. Too loose. (JR)
About the producer
Louis Gaspard d’Estournel purchased Cos Labory in 1847 and in tribute to this history, the Reybier family (owners of Cos d’Estournel today) acquired the Saint-Estèphe estate and its 35 hectares of vines in 2023.
