Unnecessarily heavy bottle. Slightly heavy wine. Mid straw. Richly perfumed – something floral? A sweet wine that lacks a bit of the cut and savour of some. Crème pâtissière. It should appeal to some palates though possibly not to the real purists. (JR)

From a magnificent magnum. Rich but very lively from a plot that backs on to Perrières. Silky smooth with a hint of smokiness. (JR)
Palish yellow. Musky peach and clove oil on the nose. Creamy, rich and stuffed with stone fruit and spice flavors. In a very ripe, Meursault-like style but with enough lemony acidity to maintain its shape. Big, mouthfilling wine with slightly elevated alcohol.
The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet is one of the most powerful wines in this lineup, largely owing to the high amount of millerandage (shot berries) in this old-vine parcel. This is an especially big, muscular wine endowed with considerable richness and a dense, plush finish. It is perhaps just a touch less refined than some of the other 2009s here.
