Tasting notes
The 1998 Solengo is a terrific offering. An intriguing blend aged in 100% new French oak for 16 months prior to bottling, it boasts an opaque ruby/purple color, as well as a classic black currant and blackberry-scented bouquet infused with high quality, toasty oak, and elements of roasted espresso. Intense, medium to full-bodied, chewy, and rich, with a multilayered mid-palate and sweet tannin, this mouth-filling, dry red can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-15 years. Impressive!
