The 2009 Volnay Les Taillepieds is a huge, layered wine bursting at the seams with expressive dark red fruit. Flowers, menthol, anise and sweet baking spices appear later on the vivid mid-palate. Layers of flavor build effortlessly to the large-scaled, dramatic finish. Today the Taillepieds comes across as way, way too young despite the obvious flashiness of its fruit. This is a great showing from Bitouzet-Prieur.
