Medium red. Plum, redcurrant, roasted meat and leather aromas. Fat, sweet and plummy, with a slightly roasted character but little sensation of heaviness. A nicely plump wine with fairly soft tannins and a lingering sweetness. Showing well today, but probably best suited for drinking over the next several years.

Today’s Latour a Pomerols are a far cry from the prodigious wines produced in the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. I was disappointed in this estate’s attenuated, light, slightly herbal 2003. It reveals a medium ruby color, hard tannins, noticeable acidity, and little flesh or depth. There is some charming currant, cherry, and mocha-infused fruit. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Mid crimson. Spread of violets on the nose – gentle floral aromas. Sweet and just a bit simple on the palate. Flattering and certanly very sweet but not very deep or interesting. Needs just a little more savour and depth. (JR)
Medium red. Enticing red fruits, spices and toasty oak on the nose; liqueur-like without being cooked. Sweet, lush and seamless, with moderately concentrated red fruit flavors supported by a firm spine of acids and sweet, broad tannins. Finishes with good length and a slight youthful dryness. But this is rather suave.
