Tasted blind. Hint of green in the pale copper colour. Not quite fresh enough on the nose. But a solid, yeoman, rich lemon-curd sort of Sauternes. Strong undertow of acidity under the richness. (JR)
Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Bastor-Lamontagne has a strong lemon-curd, slight petrol nose that needs more definition. The palate is medium-bodied with marmalade on the entry, lots of sweet vanilla tones that render the finish a little bland and unsatisfying. Drink up.
Very big and fat and lacks crispness and definition. (JR)

This Sauternes estate was acquired by the Cathiard family of Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte in 2014. Located not too far from Ch. Suduiraut, the property has 52 hectares of vines in a single block.
