Tasted blind. Paler, more ruby rim than most of its peers. Nicely evolved and integrated. Sweet, spicy start and much softer tannins than most. Not that ambitious but gently traditional. Should really please classicists. (JR)

A blend of 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a medium-weight, earthy, terroir-driven style of St.-Emilion that offers notes of spice box, damp earth, black and red currants. A touch of background wood can also be found in this medium-bodied, soft, round wine. It is best drunk in its first 10-12 years of life.
Very dark inky crimson. Fresh dark fruit, a touch spirity. Lighter on the palate than I expected, tannins are refined but are perhaps a little too prominent for the fruit weight. (JH)
