A sleeper of the vintage, this well-made St.-Emilion exhibits plenty of broad black currant and black cherry fruit, licorice, truffle and earthiness. Medium to full-bodied and pure with excellent density, soft tannins and adequate acidity, it should be consumed over the next 10-12 years.

The Chauvin has a well-defined bouquet with lifted dark cherry and cassis fruit, hints of oyster shell in the background. The palate is sweet and chewy with a dense finish, although it needs to develop more finesse on the finish. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com
