The 2007 Château de Myrat has quite a strong, petrolly bouquet that slightly obscures the terroir expression. The palate is well balanced with tangy marmalade and quince on the entry. Good acidity here, and it gains more clarity towards the finish. As the aromatics calm down, this turns into a fine Sauternes. Tasted at the 2007 horizontal in Sauternes.

Tasted at the de Myrat vertical at the property. The 2007 Château de Myrat is the vintage were this historic property finally "got back into the ring" after it recommenced production in 1990. It has an attractive dried honey, apricot blossom and quince scented bouquet that still feels vigorous and with more to give for those who prefer their Sauternes with age. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, a fine line of acidity, harmonious and refined with a finish that just seems to "flow" with lovely citrus fruit, honey, mandarin and spice notes. This comes recommended—an excellent wine from Xavier de Pontac. Tasted April 2016.
Full yellow-gold with an orange tinge. Fat and lower-toned on the nose, a bit lacking in lift today. Then surprisingly lean on the palate, with some disjointed acidity apparent. Hard to taste at present.
