Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Malescot-St-Exupery feels a little smudged and labored on the nose: jammy red fruit mixed with cigar box and dried autumn leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp acidity on the entry, dusky black fruit and a slightly bitter, mealy finish. I have tasted far superior wines from this estate in recent years, but even so, I was expecting a little more. Tasted March 2015.

Healthy ruby. Round and easy and fully evolved. Quite a charmer in Margaux mould even if it is not that ambitious. Relatively light but with classic claret attributes of refreshment. (JR)
(12.4% alcohol after a bit of osmose inverse Good dark red-ruby. Pure aromas of dark berries and licorice, with a peppery lift. Sweet and spicy, with very good fruit intensity and a chocolatey impression of ripeness. Finishes with good fruity persistence but not the verve or grip of the best years.
