The 2009 Clos de l’Oratoire feels a little flat on the nose with copious sweet mulberry and red plum fruit, moderate definition but somehow a little static. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, fine acidity, quite cohesive with sage and white pepper towards the finish. Moderate length. Very fine, but not as long as its peers. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.

Tasted blind. Glowing mature dark ruby. Light, very evolved nose. Some rose aromas and a bit of tar on the end – but not Barolo! Juicy fruit, then a dry finish. Refreshing. Distinctive and interesting but not that concentrated. (JR)
Energetic, very ripe fruit with no severity on the finish. Lots of drive. (JR)
Bright ruby-red. Cherry, cola and sandalwood on the expressive nose. Densely packed, unctuous and sweet, with powerful spice shop lift to its cherry fruit. Quite suave in texture and very long on the back end, finishing with substantial dusty, oak-driven tannins. A knockout for this property.
