The 2000 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a simple, one-dimensional bouquet that at least shows no signs of gray rot, but simply comes across as rather static. The palate is medium-bodied with orange peel and quince on the entry, but loses its way midpalate, leading to a slightly bitter and attenuated finish. This is a curiosity only, as the estate has produced far better vintages in recent years. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at home.

The 2000 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a clean, light, rather monochromatic bouquet, although there is no sign of any under-ripeness. It just lacks vigour and penetration. The palate is sharp on the entry with citric orange peel and mandarin notes. It sags a little on the mid-palate and there is a slightly sour note on the attenuated finish. Not a bad millennial Sauternes, but I would drink any bottles soon.
