Mid ruby with quite a pale rim. This looks OLD. Simple nose lacking in intensity and interest. This does not smell like vintage port. Rather tired fruit and a lack of life, although it could be attractive served with nuts and cheese this minute. (JR)

The 1991 is a supple, rich, forward-styled vintage port with moderately deep color, plenty of red and black fruits, a thick, chewy texture, light tannin, and an overall sense of suppleness without significant weight or muscle. Not showing as well as expected when last tasted, but very good nonetheless. Elegant and refined. Lovely and balanced with a silky finish. Medium-bodied, medium-sweet and fruity. Best after 1998. 2,500 cases made. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 1994
