The proprietor, the Chasseuil family, has become serious about quality since its long-term lease with the house of Jean-Pierre Moueix expired. 2003 was a challenging vintage for most Pomerol properties, but Feytit-Clinet’s 2003 has turned out reasonably well. Fashioned from a final blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, it possesses a dark ruby/purple-tinged color, a spicy, earthy nose of black cherries and berries, a monolithic attack, decent density as well as concentration, and moderate tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2014.

Medium ruby-red. Classic Pomerol aromas of black raspberry, plum, iron, coffee and smoke. Silky and broad, with a lovely restrained sweetness. Flavors of currant, plum and licorice. Finishes with rather fine tannins and very good aromatic persistence. Seems quite gently extracted.

About the producer
Jeremy Chasseuil took back control of his family estate in 2000. Prior to this the vines and wine were managed by the Moueix group (owners of Château La Fleur-Pétrus, Château Hossana and Château Trotanoy).
