Healthy ruby hued, the 2005 Château Yon-Figeac has a classic, slightly old-school vibe in its saddle leather, red and black fruits, iron, and spicy aromas and flavors. With medium to full-bodied richness and depth, it brings the structural density and tannins of the vintage, is balanced, and has a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years.

Deep damson colour, good weight, tannins a little angular as the oak remains prevelant but there are attractive raspberry fruits, and this is ready to drink, with a smoky, if abrupt finish. This vintage saw a change of ownership at Yon-Figeac, with the arrival of Alain Château. He immediately brought Denis Dubourdieu on board as consultant.
The 2005 Yon-Figeac is loaded with inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and espresso. Large-scaled and ample, Yon-Figeac is quite extroverted in style, with all its elements impeccably balanced. Give it a few hours of air to allow the tannins to soften. This is showing quite well.
