Surprisingly precocious and charmingly supple and fruity, the 1979 Trotanoy continues to develop well in the bottle. Quite drinkable now, this is not a big or massive Trotanoy, but rather a round, ample, elegant wine with good overall balance. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 12/90.

Full, supple, flavorful and velvety, with lively black currant and blackberry flavors shaded by earthy, slightly decadent notes. Has real style and grace. Ready now.
A straightforward, elegant wine that is now fully mature, the 1979 Trotanoy lacks richness, but does offer pleasing spicy, earthy, berry fruit intermingled with aromas of toasty new oak. It is an elegant, lighter-styled wine with fine underlying acidity and tannins. It should keep for another 5-7 years. Last tasted, 4/93. Aug 1993, www.robertparker.com
About the producer
Château Trotanoy was one of the first recognised Premier Cru sites on the Pomerol plateau, with records dating back to the late 1700s. Even back in the nineteenth century it was seen as the best site in Pomerol second only to Vieux Château Certan.
