Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots has ripe cherry and cranberry scents on the nose, earthy and rustic in character, later on finding scents of woodbine and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied, simple and straightforward, balanced and yet lacking real complexity and nuance on the finish. Adequate, but nothing special compared to more recent vintages. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Light to mid ruby. Gamey and interesting on the nose, with some tannins on the end that are still a bit pinched. Should get there eventually but it’s still very youthful. Quite long and very fresh. (JR)
Good bright medium red. Medicinal black cherry and menthol on the nose. Dry and firm in the mouth, with a serious structure to the black cherry, spice and saline mineral flavors. The fruit is in the background today but this wine displays good volume and finesse. Finishes with dusty tannins and a leathery nuance.
