The 2009 Barolo Cannubbio is solid and nicely done, but lacks the thrill the Rinaldi Barolos have shown in the past, especially over the last few years. The short, attenuated finish doesn't allow for a whole lot of vineyard character to develop in the glass.

Commune of Barolo. Just mid ruby with a pale rim. A little reductive and closed on the fruit. Elegant but backward palate. Fine fruit sweetness and a little creaminess from the oak. Pretty impressive, ripe tannic structure. Acidity only turns up on the finish. (WS)
