The 2011 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is wonderfully fresh and perfumed, with hints of custard giving way to pretty yellow flowers, nuances of chamomile and citrus-tinged apple. This is soft and round on the palate, with lifting acids and sweet inner herbal tones coming across as fully resolved and giving, yet also finessed. It tapers off with a lemony concentration that lingers long. The 2011 is gorgeous today, and it shows remarkable lift for being the result of a warm vintage.

One of my favorite white wines from Northern Italy, the 2011 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is dazzling and impressive on both the nose and in the mouth. It offers a full package of varietal purity with aromas of pear, quince, Golden Delicious apple and honeysuckle. Aged 12 months in large oak casks, it imparts a seductively rich and creamy texture on the long finish. This beauty promises to age ten years or more and will develop more mineral nuances as it continues its bottle evolution.
Terlano's 2011 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is bright, focused and incredibly young. Ripe pear, spice and sweet floral notes emerge over time, but the 2011 is just showing the barest hint of its true potential. The focused, tense finish suggests a very bright future lies ahead. It would be great if readers could cellar this wine for a few years, as it will only blossom with more time in bottle.
