The d’Arche 2001 has a front-loaded bouquet with bold and brassy, honeyed fruit that you could almost describe as “over the top”. It loses a little detail, but you will find it irresistible. The palate is simple compared to its peers, but there is clearly plenty of botrytis evident here with plenty of tangy marmalade on the finish.

Medium yellow. Subtly complex nose melds peach, honeysuckle, vanilla, marzipan and caramelly oak tones. Fat, sweet and honeyed, with enticing, concentrated flavors of toffee, nutmeg and vanilla. A firmly built midweight, with some spicy oak giving the finish a youthfully dry edge.

Pale yellow-gold. Deeply pitched aromas of white plum, peach, licorice, flowers and honey. Sweet, fresh and concentrated, if not especially unctuous; youthful flavors of fresh peach and apricot. Firmly structured Sauternes, finishing with lingering flavors of peach and vanilla.
