Bright red-ruby. Wild, exotic, superripe aromas of dried berries. Very sweet in the mouth but balanced by succulent acidity. The dried fruit character follows through on the palate. Still a bit restrained, perhaps stunted by the recent bottling. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and good length.

The 2003 Zinfandel Moore Earthquake Vineyard is a prodigious effort. The good news is that there are 500 cases of this offering, which tips the scales at 16.3% alcohol. A big, sweet bouquet of red and black currants, raspberries, licorice, and hints of cassis and pepper is followed by a full-bodied, rich, voluptuously-textured Zin with crisp, zesty acidity, huge body, and terrific definition as well as vibrancy.
