A deeply impressive wine, not unlike a 1982 from some other châteaux. Very structured with an immensely deep colour. At first a little austere but opened out to opulence and completeness in the glass. Was a stunning match with Montgomery Cheddar. (JR)

This wine has reached full maturity and has taken on a slightly amber edge to its deep ruby color. The big, spicy, ripe nose offers up gobs of mineral scents and superripe black fruit. In the mouth, this fleshy, chewy, full-bodied wine has excellent extract, a velvety texture, and a long, heady, alcoholic finish. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 3/90.
