Healthy crimson. Low-key, classic nose. Round and neat. Lovely, dry finish. Good meaty stuff in a traditional mould. Not big though. (JR)

Lanessan's 2001 is a consistent overachiever in Haut-Medoc. This wine nearly rivals the outstanding 2000. It is a seriously-extracted, dark ruby/purple-colored offering with ripe cassis fruit, notes of leather and earth, and a hint of truffles. It is medium-bodied, pure, and savory, with copious tannin. It will age well for 10-15 years.
