It’s a shame there is not more of this delicious Pomerol (the vineyard is a mere 5.9 acres). Proprietor Michel Querre (also a Bordeaux judge) is doing everything right at Le Moulin. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2001 is a wine for Pomerol connoisseurs given its complex perfume of incense, smoke, roasted coffee, black cherry liqueur, and a hint of chocolate. Extravagantly rich yet powerful and well-balanced, with beautifully integrated acidity and tannin, this is a hedonistic yet intellectually satisfying claret to enjoy over the next 10-12 years.
