The 2004 de Malle has a pleasant, pretty bouquet with scents of marmalade, nougat and butterscotch – stylistically reminiscent of Doisy-Vedrines. However, my bugbear is on the rich palate, which is excessively sweet and burdened with too much sucrosity, seriously denuding this Sauternes of requisite tension and refinement. The finish is too saccharine and obvious. Drink now-2018. Tasted February 2014.

Very sweet and beefy and round. Sickly end. (JR)
Intense almond and apricot and a hint of banana and just a little spirity on the nose, a bit woody. Some savoury spice on the palate and a very slight almond-kernel bitterness on the finish but overall well balanced and finishes fresh. (JH)
Pale yellow. Aromas of mirabelle and sexy oak, with a light fusel note. Offers moderately fleshy, nicely concentrated fruit with some botrytis lift. This round wine seems to grow thicker toward the back, but retains good racy acidity and firm shape. Finishes with a lingering flavor of apricot nectar.
