The 2005 Cuvée Viva is in a gorgeous spot right now. Sweet floral and spice notes lift from the glass as this charming, mid-weight Blaye shows off its alluring personality. Ripe red cherry, blood orange, mint, spice, leather and dried flowers open over time. I don't see much upside in cellaring bottles further, but the 2005 has certainly reached this stage of its life in style.

A lush, seductive bouquet of black cherries, licorice, roasted herbs, and spice jumps from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged 2005. Medium-bodied with heady glycerin, loads of fruit, beautiful purity, and no hard edges, it should be drunk over the next 3-4 years.
(14% alcohol) Good bright ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice, mint and spicy oak, plus a sappy, tarry nuance. Very ripe but fresh on the palate, with notes of dark fruits, licorice and molasses. Tannins are currently substantial, and the wine's wood component needs time to integrate.
