2012 Meursault Genevrieres

Tasting notes
There is a residual hint of post-bottling sulfur along with the usual reduction when the sulfur has not yet been completely integrated. The mineral-inflected middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of energy along with a distinct saline character that seemingly intensifies on the balanced, concentrated and strongly persistent finish. This is a classic Genevrières of class and grace. Tasted: Jun 15, 2014. Drink: 2019+

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres from Henri Boillot (whose parcel is incidentally adjacent to Dominique Lafon’s) has a modest nose: beeswax and lime flower coming through, just a touch of bruised apple, though like many Genevrieres 2012, it seems to lack the precision of Les Charmes. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry, brisk and gaining more tension towards the finish, the most satisfying part of this wine thanks to its elegance and finesse. Oct 2015, www.robertparker.com
About the producer

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
