Blackcurrant, tomato stalk, cedar wood – every inch the Médoc cru bourgeois essence. A little stingy on the palate; very austere and tightly wound fruit but not a lot of tannin to suggest ageability. (RH)
A stronger effort than the 2003, the 2004 Senejac is made in a slightly different style with more noticeable tannin, crisper acidity, plenty of smoky, herb-tinged, black currant fruit, and hints of licorice and damp earth. Medium-bodied and elegant, this classic Bordeaux should drink well for a decade.
Very deep crimson which glows with health. Very voluptuous nose – fully ripe with a slight note of tar. Very winning! No rough edges and the ripe tannins very well covered with strongly Cabernet fruit. Very well done! Tannic finish a refreshment rather than a punishment. Not massive but very well balanced. More immediately impressive than the higher ranked Talbot from the same owner. (JR)
